Just 9 months since Windows 7 end of support, another Microsoft product is also reaching the end of its life. Microsoft will discontinue support of Office 2010 on October 13, 2020. Office 2010 end of support doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to use Office 2010 anymore. It simply means that Microsoft will no longer release security updates for it.
Once support ends for Office 2010, there will still be three other Office versions that are still supported. Office 2013 is currently in its extended support window and will still receive security updates until April 11, 2023. Extended support for Office 2016 and 2019 will both end on the same day, October 14, 2025.
Mainstream Support | Extended Support | |
Office 2010 | no longer supported | October 13, 2020 |
Office 2013 | no longer supported | April 11, 2023 |
Office 2016 | October 13, 2020 | October 14, 2025 |
Office 2019 | October 10, 2023 | October 14, 2025 |
If you are currently using Office 2010, ITS recommends that you switch to a newer version of Office or switch to Office 365 before the program is no longer supported. Like end of life for operating systems, once your version of Office reaches end of life, security of the program will be threatened.
